8 Unique Songs for Your Wedding Ceremony

If Pachelbel’s Canon is not your idea of the perfect song to walk down the aisle to, we have a few suggestions that might fit the bill. Here are our recommendations for some unique ceremony songs. Check them all out on our Spotify playlist!

  1. “Intermezzo” from Cavalleria Rusticana- This epic Italian song has it all! From the delicate opening to the sweeping romantic melody and nostalgia-inducing harmonies, this song is sure to bring a tear to every guest’s eye. We picture it at an outdoor Springtime ceremony with some birds happily chirping in the background.

  2. Married Life from Up! - This one holds a special place in my heart as my first date with my husband was watching this movie. Perfect for your walk back down the aisle as newlyweds or as a touching moment for the seating of the parents or grandparents.

  3. Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini by Sergei Rachmaninoff- One of the most romantic melodies ever composed, we think this would make a memorable entrance song for you or your partner.

4. Appalachia Waltz by Mark O’Connor- A delicate blend of Folk, Bluegrass, and Classical styles, this waltz was made for a rustic barn wedding!

5. El Día que me Quieras by Carlos Gardel- Sung here by Diego el Cigala (our favorite version), this sentimental tango works perfectly as a featured song in the middle of your ceremony (perhaps during a sand or ring-warming ceremony).

6. Playing Love (string version)- It truly doesn’t get any better than Ennio Morricone, the famed Italian film composer, if you’re looking for a gorgeous ceremony song. This song comes from the movie The Legend of 1900 and pulls at every heartstring there is.

7. Brandenburg Concerto 3, mvt. 1- Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach, this upbeat work would make an exciting recessional song and a unique alternative to the traditional Wedding March by Mendelssohn.

8. You Are the Best Thing- New Englander Ray LaMontagne sums it up beautifully with his lyric, “You are the best thing to ever happen to me.” Imagine walking back down the aisle, hand in hand with your newly-minted spouse, with this song setting the mood- perfection!

If none of these songs feel quite right, reach out and we can suggest more tunes to listen to. Our string quartet and Jazz trio can be mixed and combined to create a bespoke ensemble for your ceremony- think string quartet plus guitar, or our Jazz trio with violin. We can even add in a singer or two if that’s what you’re dreaming of!

Happy planning!
